English for Academic Purposes (EAP)

These courses are designed to prepare for university entry, those international students who do not have the required English competency or academic history for direct entry to University. 

These courses are referred to as Pathways programs and generally range from one to two semesters in duration, dependent on each student’s needs.  

Pathways programs include Foundation programs which are generally aimed at students who have recently completed high school in their home country and Diploma programs which are generally designed for students who have completed some university studies in their home country.  When successfully completed, Diploma programs in general receive full or partial credit at faculty, both in the country of study and at home in Brazil. 

Another possibility for post-graduate students, who require English support, is a Bridging Program which allows students to study at faculty in conjunction with an EAP course.
