Undergraduate University ProgramsEnrolment into an undergraduate program for international students is primarily dependent upon recognised competency in the English Language. This recognition takes the form of testing such as IELTS, Cambridge or TOEFL. However, each university sets its own set of requirements for entry into each faculty. Selected universities also offer voluntary short-term Academic Preparation Programs to accustom international students with the language and procedures involved in studying at an English university. Further, there is the opportunity to fast track university studies by studying three semester’s workload over one year, thereby reducing the duration of the degree. A further opportunity is the availability of a short-term study option where it is possible to enrol with the intention of only studying for one year, yet receiving credit for future studies or receiving credit when returning to Brazil. One often not considered advantage at studying at an English speaking university is the opportunities created by compulsory and voluntary work placements which frequently open up future employment prospects. One of the advantages of completing an undergraduate degree in the country of choice is that considerable credit is given towards an immigration application to that country. Another advantage is the prestige which an English University degree attracts, when a student returns to Brazil and enters the work force or pursues further studies.
